Manage your services with eBox Network
This is a Linux server with which you can manage your network services conveniently and efficiently. It offers Internet access and management of shared resources and communications.
eBox Platform is an open source software for Linux free download available separately, but also integrated for three years in the Ubuntu distribution. It lets you manage and administer multiple eBox Platforms, perform remote backups or make low cost calls to any phone in the world using VoIP and eBox Control Center as switchboard.
EBox Platform installation can be carried out using the installer available in ebox(recommended), for easy download and deployment having on one CD all the necessary files. There is also the option of relizar the process from Ubuntu Server Edition with official eBox Platform repositories, you can download for free from Ubuntu. It is also possible to install eBox Platform both a real and a virtual machine (www.vmware.com/es).

Step 1. Installation Type
When you run the installer for the first time, you will find a selection window language. After choosing the one you want, you'll move to another window in which the installer will ask you about the installation mode.
Unattended option removes all hard drive content and application load semi-automatically. On the other hand, the expert mode allows a custom installation. Unless you are an advanced user, we recommend choosing the option unattended for its simplicity.
Step 2. User Administrator

Step 3. Features
The next step is installing the packages that will provide the various functionalities to your eBox. Simple select the option Select packages by task if you want to load a set of packages to provide various functionality to the server.
Here is a list of the various alternatives available will appear. If instead prefer to choose packages to be installed manually (only recommended for advanced users), decantate avanced Select packages manually, which will take you to a list of modules to choose from.
There are five features that is feasible to obtain. So, Gateway is the gateway of the local network that allows secure access to the Internet. Security guarantees protection of your network against intrusions, providing secure connectivity between local and external networks.
Infrastructure focuses on the management of network services (DHCP, DNS, NTP, HTTP server ...). Office centralizes the management of shared network resources (printers, authentication, ...). Finally, Communication enables communications center (mail, instant messaging and VoIP).
If you're not sure what you need, do not worry. Remember that later can install and uninstall packages as you wish. After selecting the components, a window with progress bar will inform you of their status during installation.
Step 4. Final Configuration Settings
Generally, you have a solution based on a single PC (server) architecture, however, if you have a master-slave infrastructure, you must choose the Advanced option (Advanced).
This option will appear only if the corresponding Users and Groups module is installed. On the other hand, you must specify whether any of the network cards connects to an external network (Internet) traffic because it will be analyzed strictly. If you have only one, this option will not be presented.
Finally, if you have the mail module installed, you must configure the email interface.
Step 5. Managing our Network
Once installed eBox Platform, will access a graphical interface in the web browser. Use the password entered in the first steps of the installer to identify and access the eBox administration interface.

Through this interface, you can access each network card detected by the system and can be configured dynamically statically (manually configured address) or (address configured for DHCP).
You can manage PPPoE connections. To do this, you need only select PPPoE as a method (Method) and enter the username and password provided by the ADSL provider.

You can check if you have configured your network properly entering the IP address of the machine and running the network diagnostic tools (Network Diagnostic Tools).
For example, one that uses the ICMP protocol network diagnostics to monitor connectivity to a remote machine or breaks mapping network datagrams routed through different networks until reaching a target machine. With this tool, you can view the path followed by packets on your network.
Step 6. Records and utilities
With eBox you can notify and register all kinds of events. This feature is useful for network administrator and it is possible to query those records through eBox.
On the other hand, you can configure them so that you notify them via email. In fact, it is possible to associate the event notification with profiles of major network (messaging, firewall status, network filters, printers, disk space, integrity in the data paths through the Internet, system diagnostics, etc).
To enable the logs, you must go to the state of the module and select the Records box. For reports of existing records, you must have access to search records eBox menu. The image shows statistics requests and HTTP traffic.
